Herdonia was an ancient city of Apulia located along the via Minucia. The city was the site of two major engagements of the Second Punic War (212 and 210 B.C., respectively), both of which were Carthaginian victories. The city's extensive remains have been investigated by the Belgian Institute since the Second World War.
