The Columnae Herculis (Pillars of Hercules) are the twin promontories that flank the Straits of Gibraltar, namely the rock of Gibraltar on the northern side and a debated southern promontory, likely either Monte Hacho (the ancient Abila Mons) or the Jebel Musa.
